Each year, Send My Friend to School works with a group of year 9 and 10 pupils who would like to be youth leaders and champion our Global Education Campaign.
Becoming a Campaign Champion is an incredible and unique opportunity for 14 – 15 year olds across the UK; to get involved in high level campaigning on issues of global education and be empowered to make genuine change. It is their voices that are heard in classrooms, communities and in parliament, saying that all children have the right to a quality education.
What does being a Campaign Champion involve?
- Young people and teachers take part in bespoke training to develop their campaigning skills.
- Young people use what they learn to take the campaign message to the heart of government, meeting with MPs, Ministers and other high-level figures.
- Young people become a champion for the Send My Friend to School campaign within their schools and wider communities, by running local action and events.
- Young people develop skills such as public speaking, communication, resilience, teamwork and problem solving!
The programme is open to Year 9 & 10 pupils at state schools and is fully funded by Send My Friend to School. Each school can put forward one application for a pair of two pupils plus one teacher.
