Hadiza Ummi Awwal, 12, lives in Kabiji, Nigeria, with her family. She has never been to school because her parents do not have the money to buy books, uniform or shoes. To help her family survive, she sells snacks at the local market.
In Nigeria, the “Transforming Education for Girls” project is run by Community Action for Popular Participation (CAPP) and supported by ActionAid, Comic Relief and the Tubney Charitable Trust. The project seeks to achieve a transformation in the education of girls in northern Tanzania and northern Nigeria by addressing underlying gender inequalities both in school and in the community.
