Pupils at Worplesdon Primary School made ideal teacher puppets as part of the Send My Friend campaign.
After a whole school assembly introducing the Send My Friend to School campaign, all the children (from Reception to Year 6) made an ‘ideal teacher’ puppet. They were displayed around our school hall, along with life-size teachers filled with the qualities that children think an ‘ideal teacher’ should have. We hand-delivered our puppets and life-size teachers to our local MP, Anne Milton, and asked her to pass our message on to David Cameron.
The children of Worplesdon Primary believe in this cause passionately. We have close links with a school in Uganda, for whom we raise money all year round, which has enabled the school to employ more teachers. They have also visited us in England, so the children fully empathise with the issue of a shortage of teachers.
