Labour Party Conference 2025

As campaign champions, we were delighted but apprehensive about being invited to the Labour Party Conference.

During the year we have been sharing our passion with the school community about the right for global education.

We believe that all children, no matter where they live in the world should get an education. Without education you can’t get out of poverty, it’s harder to get a job and basic social skills are lost.

On Tuesday we travelled to Liverpool with our teacher to meet our organisation ‘Send My Friend to School’. They prepared us for what to say to the MPs and politicians that we would meet. We were scared when we spotted our first MP but eventually gained confidence as we went onwards to discuss our campaign with more than 20 MPs.

Our highlight of the day was meeting the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rachel Reeves, where we had a chance to speak with her briefly and she listened. Others asked us challenging questions. At the end of the day, we lead a round table where MPs dropped in and asked us about the campaign.

It has been an amazing year and we have gained so much confidence in our public speaking. This is just the beginning!
