Canning Street Primary School have been awarded this weeks School of the Week for their inventive sports day with a special obstacle race: one that included obstacles faced by children who don’t go to school.
Pupils had to stop and dig, wash clothes, carry buckets of water and run with crutches. They got a petition signed by parents and sent it with a letter to local MP Chi Onwurah, together with messages on the “If I were a world leader” 2D templates.
Children wrote letters inviting the board of governors to the event and they too signed the petition. Teachers wrote to the press who ran a feature on the day in the local newspaper.
