Stag Lane Juniors

Children standing in a playground arranged to form the figure of a girl.
On Friday 27th May, all the children and staff of Stag Lane Junior school spent the day on Send My Sister to School activities.

We began the day with a whole school Assembly using the DVD promotional material and a moving powerpoint which set the tone for the activities.

The children went back to class to learn more about children from around the world who are daily denied their rights. There was lively discussion and debate as the children have a strong sense of justice and a powerful understanding of the importance of the responsibility they have in respecting ‘Children’s Rights’. The children created moving and compassionate messages on the ‘My Sister template’ for our MP and world leaders and created a link in the online chain. Some of our messages have been incorporated into a visual reminder of the day in a prominent display in the school hall.

Before the day was out, we had created a giant friend on the playground using all 390 members of our school community, to promote the campaign and to persuade everyone that ‘Denying Children’s Rights is Wrong . . . Put it Right!’
