Muirfield School

Adults with children displaying a scarf banner
Muirfield pupils collected 1607 signatures for their whole-school scarf.

Our Primary 7 pupils held an awareness raising assembly to share what they knew about the campaign to the rest of the school. They then gave out a piece of paper to every child in the school and the children were asked to draw on their designs onto one side and then take them home. On the reverse side the children were to share the message of the campaign to friends and family and ask them to sign their scarf.

When they were returned these to school soon after, the sheets were joined together to create a whole school scarf with the total signatures being 1607!

The P7 children then invited our MP, Mike Weir, into school and through another assembly, they explained the issue and our campaign plan to him. They also asked if he would accept our scarf and on our behalf, deliver it to the Prime Minister. He was then given a tour of the school and enjoyed watching the children as they took part in our own World Cup Tournament which was held on the same day.
