Staff and pupils at Heathpark Nursery School marked the Send my Friend to School campaign by organising a “planet picnic”, creating cultural dishes to taste.

Local businesses got involved and supplied the nursery with the ingredients and resources required for the picnic.

Before the picnic took place, children created their very own world leaders with help from their parents. Children became aware of how fortunate their lives are in comparison to other children around the world.

When asked about events that happened in their lives when they turned five years old, they were able to answer that they had started school.

Children decorated the nursery with flags of various countries which were displayed throughout the rooms. Their local councillor, Neil Grey, came to the nursery and children presented him with their world leaders.
