Yealand Church of England Primary School

As a school, Yealand Church of England Primary School learned about Africa, and linked this to their work on the Send My Friend campaign.

We watched the DVD during a whole school worship, and as a whole school of 43 we worked in groups to create our cut out teacher puppets. The children talked together about the opportunities they have when they come to school and how it wasn’t fair for children their age to be missing out.  They then wrote the special qualities of teachers on the body parts.

We then created a display using some photocopied puppets in our library and the KS2 children wrote a letter to our MP, David Morris, to ensure that our voice and views are heard.
