William McGregor Primary

Adult and children in school uniform outside 10 Downing Street
Year 5 and 6 pupils from William McGregor Primary delivered their messages in person to 10 Downing Street. Vicky and Ella report back.

Every pupil in our school made a medal to represent “Send My Friend To School”. Our local MP, Mr Pincher, made an appearance in one of our school Assemblies to talk to us about his job and the Rights of the Child.

At the end of our Assembly we gave the medals to Mr Pincher, who said he would deliver them to the Prime Minister. A few weeks later our school went to London to visit Downing Street. There we met Mr Pincher again and found out that he was just about to deliver the medals. Our teachers then politely asked if some students from year 5 and 6 could help deliver them to 10 Downing Street. Mr Pincher discussed this with the security guards and they kindly let both classes through the gates.

Six children went along side Mr Pincher and the seven of them personally delivered the medals. The guard at the door of David Cameron’s house took the package from them. Once the package had been delivered, year 5 and 6 were allowed a group photo of us outside the door. The next week, the same photo was published in that week’s copy of the Herald.
